ARCTIC ventures North by Northeast
VANCOUVER, BC – May 25, 2006 – Last year, Yellowknife native Marcus Martin performed an intimate ARCTIC solo show at Toronto’s Art Bar for North by Northeast, after which Being There magazine declared, “you would think you were in a venue at least four times the size”. This year, ARCTIC returns to North by Northeast, but with a full band and an even fuller sound. Accompanied by Kirsten Bole on bass and Max Arnason on drums, this year’s showcase offers new songs, new interpretations, and a chance to see how far the project has come in one short year.
Sometimes playing solo, sometimes with a full band, ARCTIC always features Martin’s unique improvisational style and unusual layering, making sure no two shows are ever quite the same. ARCTIC can be seen on Thursday, June 8 at Clinton’s Tavern (693 Bloor Street West) at 10:00 PM. The band will also play the Alex P. Keaton in London on Friday, June 9 before returning home to Vancouver.
